manufacturing empire that grows to a 2.5 million square-foot, 31-building, 58-acre City Within
a City by 1929, with sales of 8 million Victor Victrolas and 600 million Victor Records. The
Company registers the trademark His Master's Voice, featuring Nipper the fox terrier listening
to a talking machine/phonograph.

Radio Corporation of America (RCA) purchases the Victor Talking Machine Company, Camden, NJ in
1929, establishes the RCA Victor Company, Inc., Camden, NJ in 1930, and creates Radio Headquarters
for the World, the first consolidated facility for development and production of radio and television
broadcasting and receiving equipment for commercial and government customers.

In 1937, RCA Manufacturing Company, Camden, NJ performs the first practical demonstration of
a microwave scanning radar capable of identifying and locating moving ships. The rooftop-based
radar detects distance and location of ships passing in the nearby Delaware River.

Command Module (CM), Lunar Excursion Module (LEM), and Extra Vehicular Communications System
(EVCS) for NASA's Apollo manned space program from Apollo 7 (1968) to Apollo 17 (1972).
EVCS is successfully deployed on Apollo 11 when, on July 20, 1969, the world hears astronaut
Neil Armstrong say, "That's one small step for man - one giant leap for mankind." as he becomes
the first human to step on the moon.

In 1987, GE-RCA Government Communications Systems Division, Camden, NJ begins development of
the communications and tracking subsystem for NASA and the US Space Station Freedom Program.
The S-Band voice and telemetry communications system is activated during the ten-day mission of the
US Space Shuttle Endeavor (STS-97), which is launched on November 30th, 2000 to deliver and install
the first set of US-provided solar arrays on what has now become the International Space Station.
