L-3 Communications announced that Eric N. Ellis has been promoted to president of L-3 Fuzing & Ordnance Systems. Mr. Ellis succeeds Tom Walsh, who was recently named president of L-3 Interstate Electronics Corporation (IEC), and will report to Todd W. Gautier, president of L-3’s Precision Engagement Sector.
June 2010 - L-3 Fuzing and Ordnance Systems (L-3 FOS) received a $62.4M firm-fixed-price contract to supply M734A1 and M783 fuzes from the U.S. Army Contracting Command AMSCC-JML-CA, Picatinny Arsenal, N.J. The M734A1 Fuze is a state-of-the-art proximity mortar fuze based on Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) Directional Doppler Ranging (DDR) techniques and the M783 Point Detonating (PD) Fuze is a dual safe point detonating and delay fuze that is based on the M734A1 fuze for commonality of components which contribute to economies of scale and cost savings in purchasing the components. Both the M734A1 and M783 fuzes can be used on 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm high explosive (HE) mortar cartridges and the 120mm White Phosphorous Smoke cartridge.
May 2010 - L-3 Fuzing and Ordnance Systems (L-3 FOS) received a $19.1M firm-fixed-price contract to supply M935 point detonating mortar fuzes from the Army Contracting Command, Rock Island Contracting Center, Rock Island, Ill. The M935 is used in 51mm, 60mm, 81mm and 120mm mortar projectiles.
April 2010 - L-3 Fuzing & Ordnance Systems (L-3 FOS) received a $24.1M firm-fixed-price contract to supply M762A1 electronic time fuzes from the US Army Contracting Command, Joint Munitions & Lethality Contracting Center, CCJM-CA, at the Picattinny Arsenal, NJ. The M762A1 fuze is used on all 105mm and 155mm artillery-delivered cargo, smoke, and illumination projectiles.
March 2010 - L-3 FOS announced the opening of a West Coast office in Chandler, AZ which facilitates new business efforts with Defense Primes and the U.S. Government, aligns IRAD efforts with key customers and is located close proximity to current and potential customers.
