Infrared Technologies, ITC (Buellton, California) has obtained the first and only “technology and field of use” expanded license for uncooled microbolometer technology from Honeywell.

The non-exclusive license broadens ITC’s license to include Commercial Aviation and Home Use (which includes all residential applications, such as security). In addition, the license expands ITC’s access to all technology, patents and know-how developed by Honeywell for uncooled microbolometers.

Specifically, it includes access to Honeywell technology on an ultra-lightweight uncooled camera and to wafer-level packaging technology.

[Editor’s note: Previously, Honeywell had reserved for itself the two applications areas of Aviation and Home Use, although one other licensee has Aviation license. In addition, Max-Viz has a license to integrate a microbolometer from any Honeywell licensee into a product for the Aviation market].
