About Us

L-3 FOS has successfully met the challenge of serving the special needs of our customers for nearly half a century.  We began with the manufacturing of mechanical, precision watch movements.  Later, the mastery of electromechanical technology precipitated our entrance into the demanding arena of producing sophisticated munitions fuzes for the Department of Defense.

Today, at the leading edge of the rapidly evolving world of electronic products, L-3 FOS is still proudly serving the needs of the nation's defense, while increasingly applying our technological expertise to the manufacture of superior products.  Our capabilities are unsurpassed in the area of applying advanced technology to manufacturing processes.  Our history is built on precision and reliability.  Our future will be built on providing quality solutions that deliver positive results.

History

Our history dates back to 1946 to a machine design company from Rochester, New York called Krause Design, Inc. Krause was an early leader in manufacturing machines that sorted and collated the little stiff brown and yellow cards with slotted holes in them known as "IBM cards". This was the beginning of the computer age and data transfer between early computers was done with these IBM cards. Precision and speed was paramount to this new industry and Krause responded and prospered. With the acquisition of the defense division of the Gruen Watch Company in 1958 L-3 FOS entered the fuze business.
