Cable Winding Dense Packs |
| L-3 MariPro
has been providing specialized packaged cable for at-sea
deployment in modular packs or bails since the early 1960s.
The initial packs were utilized for deep-water moorings in
up to 6,000 meters of water. Wire rope was wound with pre-twist
onto a mandrel. The pre-twist provided a neutral payout from
the center of the pack/bail. Individual packs range in cable
size from 19 mm to 1.7 mm diameter and include wire rope,
synthetic line, electro/mechanical or buffered optical fiber
cables in lengths to 40 kilometers. Packs can be assembled
in series for longer distances. |
