Managing Director

Joining L-3 Communications Nautronix Ltd (L-3 Nautronix) on 2 May 2005, Mike Gallagher, is the Managing Director of L-3 Nautronix and, is responsible for the operation of the Company with over 100 employees in Fremantle, Western Australia.

Prior to assuming his current appointment Mike was Raytheon Australia’s General Manager for Strategy and Business Development. He was also the General Manager of that Company’s Naval Systems business from 2001 until 2004 which saw significant growth and solid positioning in Australia’s Naval business areas particularly with submarine combat and weapon systems that included software and systems engineering and responsibility for all new business and programs.

Mike spent 22 years in the Royal Australian Navy, specialising in Submarines. He served in a number of Australia’s Oberon Class submarines before successfully undertaking the Submarine Command Course (“Perisher”) in 1989 and is a graduate of the Royal Navy Staff Course (1990) undertaken at the Royal Naval College, Greenwich, UK. After nearly four years on exchange with the Royal Navy, during which time he commanded the UK submarine HMS OSIRIS, Mike returned to Australia to lead the training and development for the new Collins Class submarines. Concurrently, he was in Command of the second of the class, HMAS FARNCOMB. Mike retired from the Navy as a Commander in 1998.

Immediately following this definitive career change, Mike ran his own company as a Defence consultant and subsequently joined Sonartech Atlas as their Business Development Director.  Mike is a graduate of the University of New South Wales. He enjoys sailing and golf and is an avid supporter of cricket and rugby union.
