Tactical Hydrographic Survey System
The Tactical Hydrographic Survey (THS) is designed
to provide an off the shelf solution for obtaining
Hydrographic Data. THS provides a three dimensional
model of the sea floor using multi-beam, single beam,
and side scan sonar imagery. The data quality is
sufficient to produce internationally recognised
navigation charts and can be deployed on vessels of
opportunity.
To develop the THS, L-3 Nautronix obtained and
collated technical and system information from many
suppliers of specific COTS Hydrographic systems, and
conducted an analysis and evaluation of existing naval
and commercial solutions.
The THS delivers a solution that reduces stress and
fatigue on minimally-manned crews whilst maximising
the rate of effort of the vessels and provides a value
for money solution to the customer.
The system detects significant features that satisfy
IHO S-44 survey requirements and can be used in
Mine Warfare and Rapid Environmental Assessment
applications.
The processing subsystem will permit data merging
and fusing, processing and conduct of data verification
and validation throughout the data life cycle. An
integrated data management system, area based
CUBE processing systems, and the ability to maintain
original data and reprocess all data anytime are
included.
