L-3 SCM was first conceived as Southern California Microwave back in 1974 to meet the needs for robust microwave wireless surveillance systems for the Law Enforcement and Special Agency operations. In 1998 L-3 Communications acquired Southern California Microwave which now is an operating Division of the L-3 Communications Telemetry and RF Products Group.
