Our focus extends deep into our supply chain with program-tested organizational and personal relationships.  Whether for a single unit sale or the basis of a major acquisition, consistent performance is the yardstick by which suppliers are judged.  To this end, L-3 WESCAM Sonoma Operations (“WESCAM Sonoma”) has invested heavily in our infrastructure, personnel, training, and product development.

In 2005, L-3 WESCAM and Sonoma Design Group merged to create L-3 Sonoma EO. This new organization provided the same great products and service as L-3 WESCAM; combined with the exceptional design and innovation of Sonoma Design Group.  We systematically review all of our products for obsolescence and focus on improving both quality and delivery performance.  The company was renamed L-3 WESCAM Sonoma Operations in 2010.

WESCAM Sonoma employees have expertise in all aspects of turreted stabilized sensor systems; design, manufacturing, service, and support.  WESCAM Sonoma is an AS9100B and ISO 9001:2008 certified supplier and has been manufacturing gimbals and integrating sensors for ground, airborne, manned, unmanned, military, and commercial applications for over 25 years.  Our expertise in turret manufacturing and process control results in high product reliability with lower support costs than our competition.

Lean is another word for the maniacal pursuit to eliminate waste from every business process with the ultimate goal of providing World-Class quality, delivery and service to our customers at the lowest possible cost. The application of Lean in the work place results in greater employee involvement and empowerment—as the improvement plans come from all employees, not just from a select few. WESCAM Sonoma has set aggressive goals by establishing a Lean Roadmap which involves training employees on the Lean techniques coupled with focused Kaizen (continuous improvement) events so that learning is reinforced by implementation of the concepts. By embracing Lean, WESCAM Sonoma will continue to be on the leading edge — providing World Class quality and service to our valued customers at the lowest possible cost.

WESCAM Sonoma has an established Quality Management System (QMS) that is currently certified to AS9100B and ISO 9001:2008. This certification is in transition to AS9100C with an expected completion date of month-end Feb 2012.

FAA Part 145 repair station certification expected by Q1 2012

WESCAM Sonoma will also be Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Part 145 repair station certified by the first quarter of 2012. Detailed schedules are in-place and contracts for consulting services are executed to complete this certification process. FAA Part 145 certification will enable WESCAM Sonoma to meet current repair service contracts for the Light Utility Helicopter (LUH) and prepare the company for future FAA certifications.
