NEW YORK, NY, September 9,
1999 -- L-3 Communications (NYSE:LLL) announced today
that its Telemetry & Instrumentation (L-3 T&I) division
is introducing the Multi-Channel Universal Signal Conditioning
Amplifier (USCA). This is the first signal conditioning
amplifier to fully automate the entire data acquisition
process for test applications within the aerospace and
automotive industries.
"With the Multi-Channel
USCA, we can provide increased functionality at less cost
than traditional signal conditioning approaches," said
Chris Fitzsimmons, L-3's ADAS 5000™ marketing manager.
"The Multi-Channel USCA reduces setup times and dramatically
decreases operating costs by providing automatic setup
and self-configuration as well as continuous calibration
and self-test capabilities."
Product features include
an amplifier per channel design using sigma delta A/D
converters and a digital signal processor (DSP) for filtering
and linearization functions. The Multi-Channel USCA also
provides a broad sampling range able to recognize the
full gamut of sensors, from low-rate thermocouples to
high-rate accelerometers. This product works with the
company's Automated Data Acquisition System (ADAS 5000™)
to streamline signal conditioning tasks for data acquisition
test applications.
The Multi-Channel USCA for
the ADAS 5000™ represents the third-generation of USCA
technology pioneered by L-3 Communications to automate
traditional data acquisition and signal conditioning tasks.
The ADAS 5000™ is a turnkey data acquisition system that
provides signal conditioning, A/D conversion, multiplexing,
processing, display, storage and data distribution.
