NEW YORK--June 15, 1999--L-3 Communications
(NYSE:LLL) announced today that its Telemetry & Instrumentation
division will provide British Aerospace Military Aircraft
& Aerostructures (BAe MA&A) three airborne System 550 telemetry
systems for the Nimrod Maritime Reconnaissance Aircraft MRA2
upgrade. The contract is valued at $2 million, with system
delivery slated for October of 1999.
Under the contract, L-3's System 550 telemetry
systems will be used to conduct avionics verification and
test checkout on three test bed Nimrod aircraft. The systems
will feature a new ruggedized design for optimum performance
on board the aircraft and will be delivered with a cockpit
display capability that ensures pilots can monitor and observe
any data point in real time for instant status.

providing BAe with advanced telemetry systems for a wide
range of flight test programs," noted Brian Gilders, L-3's
program manager for the Nimrod contract. "L-3 T&I is proud
to continue our long-standing partnership with British Aerospace
and is working closely with BAe MA&A to meet the telemetry
system demands of the Nimrod contract."
