Vista Algorithm Development Training Course

Course Overview

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform tasks associated with programming the system to generate customized (output) data from either a single source parameter (input) or multiple input parameters utilizing standard programming techniques.

Prerequisites

Vista Operations Training Course Working knowledge of ‘C’ Programming Language (Vista 550)

Course Objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  • State the capabilities of the Vista Algorithm Development software.
  • Describe the major components of the Vista Algorithm Development software, including:
    • Algorithm creation procedures
    • Algorithm testing
    • System memory and processing management
  • Describe the characteristics and functionality of Data Processing and Data Gather algorithms.
  • Create a single-source data processing algorithm.
  • Create a multiple source data processing algorithm.
  • Create a data gather algorithm.
  • Describe advanced algorithm programming techniques.
  • Debug custom algorithms using standard programming techniques.

Course Overview

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform tasks associated with programming the user interface to develop custom applications to access system modules, databases, and servers utilizing standard programming techniques.

  • State the capabilities of the Vista Application Programming Interface (API) software.
  • Describe the major components of the Vista Application Programming Interface (API) software, including:
    • Command Data Server Interface
    • Remote Method Invocation (RMI)
  • Describe the organization and characteristics of the Vista API Libraries, including:
    • Documentation
    • Class and Package Hierarchy
  • Describe the characteristics, structure, and programming interface of the following, and construct a sample program for each:
    • Project Manager Server
    • Common Module Interface
    • Processing Modules Interface
    • Parameter Management Interface
    • Event Management Interface
    • Database Interface
  • Describe techniques associated with the development of Graphical Applications.
  • Construct a sample program to develop a simple Graphical Application.

Course Overview

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform general system software administration and organizational level (circuit card level) preventive and corrective hardware maintenance using system diagnostic tools and general troubleshooting practices.

Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the proper procedures and sequence for:
    • System Power up
    • System Login
    • System Shutdown
    • Software Installation
    • Software Upgrade
  • Describe in detail the function, location, and proper editing techniques of the system configuration and properties files, including:
    • AppService.properties
    • GlobalConfig.properties
    • ModConfig.properties
    • Other hardware dependent files
  • Describe in detail the system log files.
  • State the purpose and capabilities of the Muxbus Analyzer (Vista550 Only)
  • Perform normal operations using the Muxbus Analyzer and interpret the results (Vista550 Only)
  • State the purpose and capabilities of the Test Manager (Vista550 Only) as it applies to:
    • Preventive Maintenance
    • Corrective Maintenance
  • Perform corrective maintenance (organizational level) on the following:
    • System Hardware
    • System Software
