Machine Shop
L-3 Unmanned Systems’ machine shop combines the expertise of master craftsmen and Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machining technologies to provide precision parts for prototype and product assemblies. Designs created in SolidWorks® 3D design software formats are brought to life using 5-axis and 3-axis CNC technologies for prototypes and high-rate production. In addition to our state-of-the-art machining capability, our craftsmen provide decades of conventional hands-on fabrication, allowing for custom material work, and rework for prototypes and low-rate production assemblies.
Composite Material Shop
The composite material shop at L-3 Unmanned Systems manufactures parts of all shapes and sizes; from small parts such as two-stroke engine cooling ducts to large parts, including composite airframes. Skilled technicians can create multi-dimensional composite assemblies using molds created on our CNC machining technologies. Our shop has expertise working with Kevlar®, Carbon Fiber, Fiberglass and other composite material, and can lay-up prototype or production parts for your requirements.
Electrical Assembly Design, Manufacturing and Integration
L-3 Unmanned Systems is equipped to design, manufacture and integrate electric standalone products or sub-assemblies. Our expert designers and technicians can create, manufacture and integrate UAS assemblies, wire harnesses, cable assemblies and non-UAS electric products. Additionally, we have the capability design circuit boards using Mentor Graphics® software for your application.
UAS Integration and Final Assembly
Our full-service manufacturing facility provides integration and final assembly services for the complete unmanned aircraft system, including air vehicles and ground control stations (GCS). In the standard production configuration, we have four large final integration bays, which can be reconfigured based on the scale of integration and efficiency required for the completion timelines. Our experienced system integrators and assemblers have experience in miniature, small tactical, and mid-tier unmanned aircraft and ground control stations.
UAS Prototyping and Component Manufacturing
Having a highly capable manufacturing facility allows for L-3 Unmanned Systems to manufacture build-to-print prototype unmanned systems and components under a non-disclosure agreement.
