L-3's smallest UAS offering is the Cutlass,
which is built in partnership with Airborne
Technologies, Inc. Cutlass is a tube-launched Small
UAS designed to provide organic ISR capabilities
to operating units that do not have
immediate access to tactical or theater
UAS. Cutlass is the only UAS in its
class that has been successfully
launched from both ground and air
launch tubes. The ground-launched Cutlass is launched from a 120mm
launch tube. The air-launched Cutlass is launched from a variety of launch tube systems ranging in diameter from 4.5" to 6" and
capable of launch from multiple host platforms, such
as Navy Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Unmanned Aircraft
Systems, or C-130 aircraft. It is also capable of
being air-launched from both external
pylons and internal aircraft launch
bays. Cutlass is powered by an electric
motor, carries a day/night steerable
sensor that features automated target
tracking, provides up to one hour of
endurance, and is compatible with L-3's
VideoScout and Rover Remote Video
Terminal products. |
