L-3 WESCAM Selected to Provide EO/IR Imaging Turrets to the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation

FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 19, 2010 – L-3 WESCAM announced today that it has received a follow-on order from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). The order for eight high-definition electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) imaging systems will support the FBI’s high-profile national security missions.

The delivery schedule is expected to begin in 2010 and be completed in 2011 for one MX™-15HDi and seven MX™-20HD systems.

“This follow-on order exemplifies the confidence the FBI has in L-3 WESCAM’s high-definition product line and our proven ability to meet its ultra long-range imaging requirements,” said Paul Jennison, vice president of sales and business development for L-3 WESCAM. “The 1080p HD technology within these turrets creates higher-resolution images, uncovers more detail from further stand-off ranges and provides the immediate situational awareness needed by the FBI for its demanding missions.”

Key performance technologies found in L-3 WESCAM’s MX-15HDi and MX-20HD include MX-GEO Gen. 3 – the industry’s most effective and accurate ease-of-use control suite. The suite’s combination of GEO-Location, Pointing, Focus and Tracking technologies will support operators in determining accurate subject geographical location, and will reduce operator workload by automatically focusing the image and providing assistance in tracking objects.
